KaaMate

Privacy Policy

KaaMate  |  Effective date: 11 October 2026

KaaMate ("we", "us", "our") operates the KaaMate mobile application (the "App"), a platform that connects customers with nearby skilled workers (plumbers, electricians, carpenters, drivers, and similar service providers) in India.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

DataWhy we collect it
Mobile numberAccount creation and login via OTP verification
NameIdentify you to the other party in a booking
Location (GPS)Match customers with nearby workers, and (for workers who go online) show your live position to nearby customers. A worker's location can keep updating while the app is in the background if they choose to allow it — see the note below the table
Profile photoWorker verification and trust/safety
Camera & photos you share in chatOnly when you choose to take or attach a photo in a chat with the other party
Chat messagesDelivering your messages to the other party in a booking; stored so the conversation is available to both of you
Job history & ratingsShow reliability of workers/customers to each other
Payment detailsProcessing the worker registration fee, if and when we enable it (handled entirely by our payment provider — see Section 3). This fee is currently switched off, so no payment details are collected.
NotificationsWith your permission, to alert you about booking requests, confirmations, arrivals and messages
Device & app usage dataFixing bugs, improving performance
AI Assistant requests (optional)The text you type or dictate into the AI Assistant, and the earlier messages of that conversation. Used only to work out which service you need so we can show real nearby workers — see Section 3
Voice input (microphone)Only while you are using voice search, and only to turn what you say into a search term — see Section 3. We do not keep recordings, and the microphone is never accessed at any other time

We ask for camera, photo, location, microphone and notification permissions only when the related feature is used, and you can decline or later change them in your device settings. Voice search is entirely optional — if you never tap the microphone, no audio is ever captured, and you can search by typing exactly as before.

Location while the app is in the background (workers only). If you are a worker and you choose Allow on the in-app notice, KaaMate keeps updating your location while you are Online — including when the app is minimised or your screen is locked — so that customers can find you. A notification stays visible on your phone the whole time this is on. We store only your most recent position, rounded to roughly 110 metres, together with the time it was recorded; we do not keep a trail of your movements. Updates stop when you switch Offline, sign out, or your account is suspended or deleted. We do not collect customers' location in the background. If you decline, your location is shared only while the app is open, and you can turn location off at any time in your device settings (customers then cannot see where you are).

2. How We Use Your Information

3. Sharing With Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data only with:

In-app chat messages and photos you send within KaaMate are stored so the other party can receive them; ordinary phone calls made through your dialer are not.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and job history data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to keep records for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.

AI Assistant conversations stay on your phone while the screen is open; KaaMate does not store the text of those conversations on its servers. We keep only a per-day usage count so the feature cannot be abused.

5. Your Rights (under the DPDP Act)

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info.kaamate@gmail.com. We'll respond within 30 days.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures — encrypted connections (HTTPS), OTP-based authentication, and access-controlled databases — to protect your data. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access, alteration, or loss.

7. Children's Privacy

KaaMate is intended for users aged 18 and above, as it involves financial transactions and in-person service bookings. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

8. Grievance Officer

In accordance with Indian law, the contact for privacy-related grievances is:

Name: KaaMate
Email: info.kaamate@gmail.com
Address: Surat, Gujarat, India

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves or as Indian data protection law develops. Material changes will be notified within the App. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
